ABOUT ME
Hey, It's Saif here!
After high school, I wasn’t entirely sure what direction I wanted to take, so I began by completing my general education courses while exploring different fields. Over time, I realized how much I was drawn (pun so intended) to creative expression and decided to take a chance on developing my artistic abilities further and not resort to drawing in the margins of notebooks.
Through drawing, painting, and sculpting, I discovered a deep appreciation for the arts as a whole and grew a strong passion for visual storytelling. Being part of an artistic community has allowed me to grow both personally and creatively, and I continue to find inspiration in the people, experiences, and emotions that surround me.
Comic books have always been a big inspiration for me not only from an artistic standpoint but from a storytelling one. One of my longterm goals is to contribute to the world of comics. Creating work that not only reflects my passions but also helps inspire younger generations to explore and connect with the art world around them.
ARTIST STATEMENT
To me, my artwork is a lens through my eyes. I am an avid pop culture enthusiast, and I often focus on living in the moment. As a result, a lot of my work is based on nostalgia or tied to a single moment in time. I enjoy creating pieces that bring back the feeling of being a kid again while still being able to represent who I am today.
In my recent works, I have grown to really enjoy working with oil paint and color pencils. While I often get caught up in hyper-realistic views, I am currently working on cutting back and developing a style of my own. I want my art to carry a sense of fun, freedom, and a lived experience, while also asking you how much of our identities are constructed from the culture around us and how much is authentically our own.
We live in a very chaotic and unpredictable world, and I want my artwork to serve as a reminder of not giving up, to remind you that no matter the age, everyone is learning, living, and going through a whole life on our own.
